Louis Rivoli (Soup) was a prominent member of the greatest generation. He passed away after a long illness at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center surrounded by beloved friends. Louie was a lifelong resident of Newark and a former employee of the Newark Housing Authority.An Army Cannoneer in WWII he served in various positions on Anti Air Craft Guns in combat in the Southwest Pacific Islands, including Okinawa. A highly decorated Veteran, Mr. Rivoli carried a heavy machine gun into battle at Okinawa.He dedicated his life to raise three physically challenged relatives.
