Luba Lapychak-Lesko

On Sunday, July 24th, Luba Lapychak-Lesko, of East Hanover, NJ., age 91, passed away at Morristown Memorial Hospital. Born in 1925 in Rawa Ruska in Ukraine to Myron and Michaela Mosora, she was predeceased by her parents and her three sisters, Myrosia, Jaroslawa and Eugenia, as well as her first husband, Adrian Lapychak. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Michael Lesko, his sons, Bohdan, Mirko and Roman, nephews, Nestor, Taras, Lubodar and Myron Olesnycky and Andreas Bohach, their wives and children. Funeral Arrangements have been made with Union Funeral Home, Lytwyn and Lytwyn at 1600 Stuyvesant Ave., Union, NJ. with visitation on Tuesday, July 26th from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., and a Parastas at 8:00 P.M. . A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 60 Jefferson Ave., Whippany, NJ at 10:00 A.M. on July 27th. Thereafter, burial will take place at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Cemetery in South Bound Brook, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in favor of the UACCNJ ( Ukrainian American Cultural Center of NJ), 60 N. Jefferson Road, Whippany, NJ 07981. Immigrating to the United States in 1949, after a short stint in banking to learn English, for 41 years, Luba was the administrator of the Ukrainian Daily, Svoboda, published in Jersey City and then in Parsippany. An avid athlete, she was elected to the Ukrainian Sitch inaugural Hall of Fame in Volleyball along with her husband, Adrian Lapychak. An active member of the Ukrainian National Association and the Ukrainian National Women's Association, she enjoyed ping pong, bridge, travel and being a loving and gentle aunt to her nephews and a favorite relative to her many cousins and their children, her father having been one of 8 children and her mother having a sister. She will be missed by all.
