Our precious baby girl, Lyla Jade Cales, born May 15, 2022 passed peacefully in her parents' arms at Morristown Medical Center on June 1st, 2022 due to an incurable rare genetic metabolic disorder called Nonketotic Hyperglycinemia (NKH). For the terrifying yet wonderful 17 days she was earth side, she showed lots of personality. She was a dark haired beauty who was loving and sassy. She loved to hold our fingers and cuddle but disliked being bothered. Lyla radiated love and light and deeply touched anyone who met her. Her warm touch & soft rosy scent is forever etched in our memory. We know that the sight of butterflies is the promise she's kept to show that she will always be with us. In addition to her parents Kristina & Carlos, she is survived by her paternal grandparents Ray and Neida, maternal grandparents Allex & Frances, aunt Yahaira & uncle Allex Jr., as well as great-grandparents, great-uncles, great-aunts, cousins and other relatives and friends who loved Lyla very much. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses & staff at Overlook and Morristown Medical Center NICU's for their amazing care provided to Lyla & her family. The family also appreciates all of the prayers and concerns extended to us prior to & during this time. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home Burial will take place on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union.
