Maria Chraplyvy, 94, passed away on July 17, 2013 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born in Sokolya, Ukraine in 1918 of parents Paraskeviya (Lukotska) and Mykola Kuryletz. She was a research chemist at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Mo., where she also was a parishioner of St. Mary's Assumption Ukrainian Catholic Church. After the death in 1983 of her husband Zenobius Chraplyvy, a Ukrainian physicist, she moved to NJ where she was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Newark. She was a life-long member of Plast and a member of UNWLA. She is survived by a son Andrew and his wife Christine and a daughter Helen and her husband Tom Mess, and grandchildren Mark, Adrian, and Natalia Chraplyvy and Daniel and Katy Mess. She was predeceased by her brother Andriy.
