Maria Kulchyckyj Gut Semanyshyn

Maria (Kulchyckyj Gut) Semanyshyn, 96, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 12, 2017. Maria was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was the beloved wife of the late Eng. Mykola Semanyshyn (1988). She is survived by her three grieving children Kvitka, Zenon and Lydia Semanyshyn, her loving daughter-in-law Daria Semeniuk Semanyshyn and her loving grandchildren Christina Semanyshyn Fairhurst with her husband John Fairhurst and Matthew Semanyshyn and extended family in U.S. and Ukraine. She was born in Kulchychi, Ukraine on April 16, 1921. She was displaced from her childhood home and traveled to Germany where she lived as a refugee until emigrating to the United States in 1949 with her husband and three year old daughter and settling in Newark, NJ. Maria was a lifetime parishioner of St. John's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Newark, NJ and sang in the church choir. She also was an active member of UNWLA Branch #28.
