Mrs. Maria Rosalia Leone (nee Masecchia) of Bloomfield passed away in her home with her family by her side on June 16, 2013 at the age of 99. The visiting hours are 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday evening at Levandoski Funeral Home 44 Bay Avenue Bloomfield. Please visit www.levandoskifuneralhome.com for directions and on line condolences. The funeral will begin at 9am on Thursday morning at the funeral home. Her funeral mass will begin at 10am at St. Valentine Church, Bloomfield. Entombment will follow at Glendale Cemetery. Maria was the beloved wife of the late Giovanni Leone. Loving mother of Rosalba Flynn, Adriana Beumee (Gary) and John D. Leone (Claudia). Dear sister of Olga Masecchia, Mario Masecchia and the late Teresa Masecchia and Antonio Masecchia. Loving grandmother of Jeffrey Russell, Renee Vocaturo, Karyn Ambrosio, Denise DeBalfo, John David Leone and Jaclyn Anne Leone. She is also survived by 8 loving great grandchildren and 5 loving great-great grandchildren.Maria had worked at Lambe Clothing Co. in Newark for many years as a seamstress making coats. Previously she was a seamstress in Caserta Italy ,sewing military uniforms for both Italian and American servicemen during World War II. She even repaired a button on a coat worn by Winston Churchill at that time.She loved to knit, embroider and especially be with her loving family. She also had a green thumb and was a great cook, everyone loved her meatballs and clam sauce. In lieu of flwers donations to St. Jude Tribute Program PO Box 1000 Dept.142 Memphis TN 38101 would be preferred.
