Marie M. Joassaint

Marie M. Joassaint was born on September 5, 1930 in Jeremie, Haiti. She entered into eternal rest on Thursday August 2, 2012 at the age of 82. Marie was affectionately called "Mamma Bear", Jo, an, of course, Marie Marthe. Coming to the United States many years ago Marie had dedicated her life to care for others as a Registered Nurse with the V.A. Medical Center in East Orange, NJ prior to her retirement. Her love of nursing people to health came second nature to her as she never wanted to see anyone suffer or have pain. Marie was the type of person who shared her love, affection and advice with her family, many friends and community. She was known as "the best listener on the planet". Marie had an infectious laugh, she enjoyed gardening as a hobby, travel, spending time with family and friends celebrating, and loved to sing. She had a deep faith in God, prayed everyday and tuned into to EWTN cable network to do the Rosary and attend Mass Spiritually, on Sundays, all day long.She was a dedicated mother, loyal sister, loving cousin and long time best friend to the people she knew and loved. Marie is survived by her first born son Patrick G. Jeudy, her daughter, Claudine Anne Commisso and her husband Attilio Commisso. Also, her dear sister, Roberta Bastien, the late Milord Joassaint and the late Annette Gabriel; cousin of Anita Gilbert; and intimate family/friend, Jackie Estinfa. Family and friends with gather to celebrate "Mamma Bear's" life at the Levandoski Funeral Home, 44 Bay Avenue, Bloomfield, NJ on Saturday August 10thfrom 3:00 to 6:00 pm, with a prayer service to be held during the gathering.
