Mary Jean Pesce

December 9, 1953 — December 9, 2015

Mary Jean Pesce, 62, of Jersey City, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, December 9th, her birthday. Born in Jersey City on December 9, 1953, to the late Vincent A. & Madeline (nee: Trezza) Pesce, she was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Holy Rosary Grammar School, St. Mary's High School & Jersey City State College. (She was valedictorian for all 3 graduations!). She was employed by the Hudson County Social Services Department for 40 years, as an Assistant Administrator in the Food Stamps Department, retiring in September of 2015. The "life of the party", Mary Jean was involved in numerous charitable organizations in Hudson County, most notably, the Dante Alighieri Ladies Auxiliary, where she was Chair of the Membership Committee and on the Board of Trustees. At the center of her life was Holy Rosary Church, her "beloved" parish. Mary Jean was President of the Rosary Altar Society, which under her guidance increased membership and annual events. She was an active Lector, Eucharistic Minister, & former Choir Member. She enjoyed many trips to Atlantic City and Wildwood with the Senior's Group and pilgrimages to Europe and Italy. Her devotion to parish Novena's & Devotion's was unmatched. You could always count on a laugh at any meeting or parish function that Mary Jean was a part of. She had a song for every occasion and could sing on demand about almost anything. She volunteered many hours at the annual Italian Festival and loved sampling the festivals delicacies. She was the permanent cantor and lector for the Italian Mass for many years. Her family and friends were the most important part of her life, she rarely missed a party. She loved to party, to dance, to sing, to eat, to laugh and to love. It was only fitting that she was called home on her 62nd birthday to the ultimate of parties, to be reunited with her family and friends in heaven.
