Mary Lorraine Cummings

Lorraine Cummings of Bloomfield, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024. She was 96 years old.

Beloved matriarch of her family, she married her late husband, William Frederick, in 1949 and was his devoted wife for 50 years. Prior to moving to Forked River, New Jersey, they resided in Bloomfield where they raised their three children: Stephen, Linda, and Paul.

Born in Orange, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Keenan. Loving sister of the late John Gough and Catherine Gough-Parks.

Growing up she attended Our Lady of the Valley High School and later worked at the Nevins-Church Press in Glen Ridge. For those who knew her well, she was the quiet Irish redhead who always had a kind word.

Her home was her pride and joy where she created a place of comfort and beauty for her family. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jennifer Cummings. She is survived by her children Stephen Cummings (Robin) of Bushkill, Pennsylvania, Linda Cummings of Bloomfield, New Jersey, and Paul Cummings (Amanda) of Sparta, New Jersey; grandchildren Jaclyn (Robert), Grant, Todd; and two great grandchildren, Jackson and Leo Scarfone of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

Lorraine was a communicant at the Saint Valentine Church in Bloomfield. Interment will be held by the family in a private committal service at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, New Jersey.
