Maxima Tiotangco Calalang, 96, of Union, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on February 28th, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her own home. Maxima was born on April 14th, 1927 to the parents of Hermogenes Tiotangco and Francisca Ramos in Makinabang Baliuag Bulacan, Philippines.
Maxima is predeceased by her husband, Leonardo Santos Calalang. Maxima is survived by her children; Rosalinda and late Roland Sikat, Reynaldo and Herundina Calalang, Benilda and Mario Lorenzo, Fedelita and Cecilio Vita, Eleanor Calalang, Geraldo Calalang and Evangelina Calalang. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Christian and Sheena Sikat-Bregovac, Carlo and Nicole Edra, Michael Ray Calalang, Robert and Devon Diamond-Calalang, Leonard Calalang, Lawrence Calalang, Joy Carandang, Benjamin Lorenzo, and her great grandchildren; Lisselle Edra, Collin Edra, Koa Calalang and Colson Calalang.
Maxima was known as “Nanay”, or “mother” in Tagalog, to her family. She was the protector of all her loved ones and wanted nothing more than to spend quality time with her family and friends. She cooked authentic Filipino cuisines and was deemed the best chef of the family. She was a loving wife, aunt, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to many. She always taught right from wrong and sprinkled her words of wisdom and faith until the very end. Her beautiful smile and endless laughter would light up a whole room and now she will forever be a guardian angel.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Relatives and Friends are invited to meet at Holy Spirit Church, 971 Suburban Rd., Union on Thursday, March 7th for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Cremation service will be held in private.
