Michael J Gruchacz

Michael J. Gruchacz, 78 of Point Pleasant, formerly of Bloomfield, entered into eternal life on February 2nd at Van Dyk Manor, Montclair. Born July 30, 1937 in Montclair, Mike lived in Bloomfield most of his life before moving to Point Pleasant after retirement. He was a proud US Navy Veteran, serving during peacetime from 1955-1958. He was employed as a Bloomfield Fire Fighter for 30 years, retiring in 1994. Mike, was an active member of the St. Val's Athletic Club and the Fire Department, in addition, he was a former member of the Joseph Poniatowski Benevolent Association. He is the beloved father of Brian Gruchacz (Sue), Kevin Gruchacz & Jill Estrada (Gerald), dearest brother of the late Joseph, Thaddeus & Stanley, and loving grandfather of Elizabeth, Tyler & Lucas. Visitation will be held Wednesday morning, February 17th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Valentine Church, Bloomfield at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
