MINNIE KRIVENKY Life-long piano teacher and church deaconess Minnie, (nee Haluska) Krivenky, 102, peacefully passed away at home in Maplewood, NJ on Saturday, March 16, 2013 after a brief illness. Born in Newark, NJ she resided in Maplewood for 82 years. Minnie was predeceased by her husband Kirill Krivenky. She leaves behind her daughter, Carol Otte, Piscataway, NJ, her sister, Eleanor Korol Krenke, and two nephews, Todd Korol and his wife Michele and Gustave Haluska. Beloved by her many students, she was a professional piano teacher from age 16 until two months before her death. She touched many lives through her music and through her life-long devotion to her church, First Baptist Peddie Memorial Church, Newark, NJ where she was active her entire life as a pianist and deaconess. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. at the Union Funeral Home Lytwyn & Lytwyn 1600 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union, NJ with a service at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral will take place on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Union, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice and the family asks that you extend a kindness to someone in her memory.
