It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, daughter, and sister Miriam Mychalczak, who passed away on February 16, 2024, at the young age of 52.
Miriasia, as she was fondly called, was born on March 15, 1971 in Orange, NJ to Bohdan and Bohdanna Chudio. She grew up in Maplewood and Short Hills alongside her sister, Roma. She attended McGill University for her undergraduate studies and continued on to complete a Masters degree at Columbia University.
Miriasia was nothing short of authentic, always true to her personality, spirit, and character. She was an extremely passionate person and lived life with a certain joie de vivre. She loved her children fiercely and was proud of their many successes and accomplishments.
Despite facing many health challenges in life, she showed persistence, optimism, willpower and unparalleled grit. Her fighting spirit and unwavering faith propelled her. With her positive attitude, motivation, and absolute resilience, Miriasia drew people to her and had a profound impact on their lives.
Miriasia is survived by her children, Sofia and Nicolas and their father Borys Mychalczak; mother Bohdanna Chudio; sister, Roma Pranprat with husband, Roy; nephew and niece, Lucian and Mia; as well as a host of relatives and friends.
Her life will be celebrated Friday, February 23, 2024, at Union Funeral Home. Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Panakhyda: 7:30 p.m.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 24, 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Newark, NJ.
Miriasia will be missed dearly. We take comfort that she is now in a better place, close to her beloved father, Tato. We pray that God keeps her in His warm embrace and that her soul rests in eternal peace.
Vichnaja Pam’jat!
