Miriam Sceurman

Miriam Sceurman, 96, a long-time resident of Bloomfield, NJ, passed away on May 3, 2015 at Van Dyk Manor, Montclair, NJ. Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield, NJ. Inurnment will take place privately at Arlington National Cemetery. She was the beloved wife of the late Leo L. Sceurman, Sr., and daughter of the late Thomas I. Adams and Gertrude Courter Adams. "Mim" as she was known to her family and friends, met her husband while both attending Bloomfield High School and graduating in 1937. They married on May 12, 1942 at the First Presbyterian Church on the Green and settled on Clark Avenue in Bloomfield in 1948 and raised their family. Her two sons and their families still reside there today. "Mim" retired from the billing department of Mountainside Hospital. Over the years she was a member of the Eastern Star, the DBC girls, a hospital volunteer and an active member of the Bloomfield Senior Center where she enjoyed the many activities offered there, especially knit and crochet and calling BINGO on Friday afternoons. She was honored at the Bloomfield High School Centennial Celebration in 2011 as being one of the oldest graduates from Bloomfield High School in attendance.She leaves her children, Shirley Griffith and her husband Chuck of Whiteford, Maryland, son Leo L. Sceurman, Jr. and his wife Kathy, and son Mark T. Sceurman and his wife Shirley. She also leaves her seven grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren, and her brother Ray Adams and sister in law Myra of North Port, Florida.
