Moolchand Achaibar

Moolchand Achaibar, known as Robert, 87, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2023 at his home in Bloomfield NJ.

Born to Achaibar Maharaj and Rajdai Bhoopsingh in Guyana, Robert, known to his friends and family as Bob, was an excellent businessman, respected friend, dedicated husband, loving father/father-in-law, and grandfather. He loved and dedicated his life to his family and friends unconditionally. Hard work, honesty, commitment to friends, and aspiring for the best for his family were central to his personality. In both his birth country Guyana and his adopted home USA, he touched many lives with his presence, positive attitude, advice, and support.

He moved to United States in 1981 with his wife and six children in order for his family to pursue higher education. He is survived by his wife Basmattee (Shirley), four sons and daughter-in-laws: Gowton and Manisha of Frisco Texas, Drona and Mohini of Orlando Florida, Sham and Sharon of Randolph New Jersey, Anand and Saida of Oldsmar Florida, two daughters and son-In-laws: Beena and Guru Pai of New Vernon New Jersey, Shelly and Sashko Traikovski of Livingston New Jersey.

He was also the loving Aaja for grandchildren Avinash, Priya, Neha, Bela, Sejal, Rushil, Elina, Sabina, Adina, Zach, and Ryan. He was the loving Nana for Varsha, Naina, Lily, Natalia, and Filip. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and only sibling Isaac Pooran of London England.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 16th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home, 44 Bay Avenue, Bloomfield, NJ.  (Additional parking located at the Church across from the Funeral Home)

The Funeral will take place on Tuesday morning, beginning at the Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m.   Cremation will follow at 11:00 a.m. at East Ridge Lawn Crematory, 255 Main Ave., Clifton, NJ. There will be a luncheon following the service for family and friends to come together and celebrate Robert’s life.
