.Nick Hordynsky lost his long battle with cancer on April 10th. Nicholas was the beloved husband of Slawka; the devoted father of Natalie Geremia and husband, Michael and Marco Hordynsky and wife, Ulana and the coolest "dido-man" or grandfather of Luke and Anna Geremia and Andrew Hordynsky. Nicholas was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Maria Hordynsky and his brother, George. When Nick wasn't spending time with his family, he was engaging in his favorite pastime- soccer. As a player, coach and then the manager of Chornomorshka Sitch soccer team, Nick's longtime commitment to the sport earned him and induction into the New Jersey Soccer Hall of Fame. Perhaps, more importantly, it earned him the respected title of "The Kaiser" amongst the players. Nick was known for his big heart, and generosity. As an insurance agent, it was in Nick's nature to make sure everyone as covered and taken care of. Nicholas owned and operated the Alexander E. Smal & Co Insurance Agency in Maplewood for 35 years, retiring on January 19, 2018. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam.
