Nikolai Kossowicz

Nikolai Kossowicz of Branchburg NJ, age 94, passed away on November 10, 2023. Visitation for all will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the Union Funeral Home, 1600 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union NJ 07083 followed by a family funeral the following day at Novo-Diveevo Russian Orthodox Cemetery in Nanuet NY.

Born on February 6, 1929 in Ostriv, Ukraine (Volyn Oblast), Nikolai was the son of Konstantin and Maria Kossowicz. In 1951, Nikolai emigrated to the United States with his family. On November 15, 1964, Nikolai married Tatiana Kekin in Philadelphia, PA. They started a plumbing and heating contracting business (NK Plumbing & Heating out of Plainfield NJ) where he worked until retirement.

Nikolai was an active member of the Our Lady of Kazan Russian Orthodox Church in Newark NJ. A polyglot who conversed in English, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, and German, he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his wife and family.

Nikolai is preceded in death by his mother, sisters Tamara and Irene, and brother Gregory. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years Tatiana, son Andrew with wife Bobby; son Victor with wife Caren; daughter Elaine with husband Sam; and grandchildren Kelly, Connor and Sophia.
