Olga L Thun

Olga grew up in Newark with her five brothers and sisters. Graduating from Barringer High School, she went to work for the Hartford Insurance Company as an underwriter. She met her husband, Art, moved to Nutley and eventually bought their home in Bloomfield where they raised their two daughters.

Her greatest love was spending time with family which included 22 nieces and nephews & 15 great nieces and nephews.

Olga was a great mom and friend. Her door was always open as was her kitchen. Her love for Frank Sinatra and the dream of dancing with Fred Astaire followed her through her life.

“She is the nicest person I know” was often repeated by everyone she met. She saw the good in everyone and always had a smile for them.

She leaves behind, a daughter Barbara Mahasky and her husband Michael, a daughter Elaine Buttimore and her husband Ed. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Jessica Little and her husband Chris, Jimmy Buttimore, Amanda Durborow and her husband Colin, Ryan Buttimore and his wife Gabriella, Kelly Buttimore, and Mark Mahasky and his wife Rebecca, as well as six great grandchildren: Logan, Lucas and Landon Little, and Colbie and Laine Durborow, and Nicolo Buttimore.

She was predeceased by husband Arthur Thun, brothers Artie DeFilippis, Ralph DeFilippis and his wife Esther and Vinny DeFilippis and his wife Chickie, sister Marylou Isenburg, her husband Tom and sister Joan Miller, her nephew John DeFilippis and her great grandson Bennett Durborow.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home, 44 Bay Avenue, Bloomfield, NJ 07003

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Thursday, May 11th, gathering at the Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m.   A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 60 Byrd Ave., Bloomfield.  Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in her memory.
