Olga Tymczyna (nee:Borys), 80 of Newark, entered into eternal life on December 23, 2022 at her home.
Olga was born in 1942 in Teniatyska, Poland to Ukrainian parents, Dymitr and Maria (nee Olenycz). There, she enjoyed a childhood lived in the outdoors, working on the farm and tending to the animals. She was born with an independent spirit and outsized personality, qualities that endeared her to all who knew her. With a talent for mischief, she would recall with pride the time in her childhood she traded some grain for a single ice skate, and got away with it because her father blamed the missing grain on the field mice.
In her early 20s, Olga married and she and her husband soon relocated to New Jersey with the help of her family. She fell in love with indoor electricity and settled in Newark, where she became a popular figure among the Ukrainian diaspora community there. With an emphasis on laughter, Olga raised her four children and worked in care-giving roles. Always a farm-girl at heart, at her home Olga enjoyed gardening, planting vegetables (there was corn one year) and keeping animals - dogs, cats, geese, rabbit and - chickens.
Olga had a heart of gold and could light up a room with her presence in a matter of minutes. She worked hard and played hard, had an exuberant sense of humor and no one loved a "zabava" more than she did, she would be the first one on the dance floor - and the last to leave it. She had a gift to make people laugh, to make quick friends of strangers, and to turn challenges into accomplishments. Olga would easily help family, friends and strangers in need. She made a hobby of sending packages abroad and did so regularly for many years. Olga took pride in never having paid retail in her life, was an avid decorator and collector, and enjoyed spending time in Florida where she was "supernanny" to family beagles Libby and Reba.
Olga lived by example and spread happiness everywhere she went. She will be greatly missed.
Olga is preceded by husband Bazyli, siblings Mykola, Katarzyna and Anna.
Olga is survived by daughters Lena and Luba, sons Walter and Taras, daughter-in-law Reiko and grandsons Noah and Luka, nieces Olga Borys and Regina Fedyna and nephew Nick Borys.
