Orest Boyko

Orest Boyko, 88, passed away on Thursday August 28, 2014. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, September 3 at 10:30AM from the Union Funeral Home-Lytwyn, 1600 Stuyvesant Ave, Union (unionfuneralhome.com) then to St John's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Newark for an 11:30AM Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in Union. Visitation is Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Parastas will be at 7:30PM. Orest was the beloved husband for 60 years of Lubomyra. He was the devoted father of Martha Kardashinetz and her husband Tony and their son, Roman and Lydia Andersen and her husband, Iveaux. Orest was predeceased by his brothers, Rodion and Roman Boyko. He was a dedicated family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle to his brother, Roman's children and grandchildren. Born in Ukraine, Orest lived in Irvington before moving to Union 30 years ago. He was a devoted parishioner of St John the Baptist Church in Newark and had worked as a design engineer for Pullman-Kellogg, Foster Wheeler and Graver Water Co. His family extends a special thank you and appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of Overlook Hospital and the Atlantic Health and Hospice Care for their excellent care and spiritual support
