Oscar H Fernandez

Oscar H. “Coco” Fernandez, 84 of Kearny, entered into eternal life on March 16, 2022 at Clara Maass Medical Center with his family at his side. Born August 14, 1937 in Guatemala, he lived in California, Chicago & New York before settling in Kearny in 1981. He was retired from West Hudson Hospital in Kearny as a Maintenance Supervisor where he worked from 1987 to 2003. Oscar was a talented chef, if you wanted authentic Guatemalan food he was the source of the best Tamales, Tacos and Stuffed Peppers. He has been a devout parishioner of St. Cecilia Church for the past 40 years and deeply involved with the Hispanic Community. He is the beloved husband of Judith (nee: Calderon), loving father of Oscar Roberto Ortiz, Mayra Ortiz, Diana Nizze & Oscar Omar Fernandez, proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Julio Fernandez. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield, NJ. Relatives and Friends are invited to gather at St. Cecilia Church, 120 Kearny Ave., Kearny on Wednesday, March 23rd at 10:30 a.m. for the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
