Renato V Metzger

Renato Vilmar Metzger 75, died Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Trinitas Medical Center in Elizabeth, NJ. Mr. Metzger was born in Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil on October 7, 1941, the son of Alice Metzger. He served in the Brazilian Air Force and held various jobs while residing there. He moved his young family to the US in 1970 and eventually started a painting contracting business from which he refused to fully retire. Mr. Metzger is survived by a large, loving family which includes his wife of 56 years, Julia (Leite). His children, Ema Stednick and her companion, Rainer Jung, Marcia Savino and her husband Nevio Savino, his son, Ray Metzger and daugther Daisy Soklaski and her husband, Chris Soklaski. His grandchildren, Tiffany Oberbauer, Kenneth Widdis, Cristina Royzengurt, Rebeca Rech, Dylan Metzger, Taylor Metzger, Jesse Leadbeater, Christopher Savino, Harley Metzger, John Metzger and Samantha Soklaski. His great-grandchildren Lexi Millar, Mikaela Royzengurt, Jorah Royzengurt. Mr. Metzger was a member of the (former) Ukrainian Evangelical Assemblies of God Church in Union, NJ now known as Living Word Church, where he as well as his wife Julia enjoyed working at the food pantry. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mr. Metzger's church.
