Robert P. "Buddy" Dolan

Robert P. “Buddy” Dolan of Union, N.J. passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 21, 2023, at the age of 80, with his loving family at his side. Robert was born in East Orange, N.J. to the late Joseph and the late Dorothy (nee Hahn) Dolan.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963. He received commendations as a Rifle Sharpshooter and Carbine Marksman. In his later years Robert continued to master his firearm skills.

Robert was the devoted husband of 54 years to Dolores J. (nee Balyk) Dolan; father of Deanna Dolan and Marie (Robert) Semendoff; brother of Joseph Dolan, Michael Dolan, the late Patricia Pace and the late Joan Heisele; grandfather of Raven Semendoff and the late Jessica Strickland; and great-grandfather of Ashton Semendoff and Rylee Semendoff.

Prior to his retirement Buddy worked as a maintenance mechanic for White Tool in Kenilworth, N.J., and Wilber Driver in Florham Park, N.J.

Buddy was a past commander of the American Legion, Caldwell Post 185, and a member of the Ukrainian American Veterans of Irvington, and various ham radio clubs. He also enjoyed photography and drag racing at Englishtown Raceway Park and Island Dragway.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation on Sunday June 25th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Union Funeral Home Lytwyn & Grillo, 1600 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union. A catholic prayer service will be held at 8:30 p.m.

Cremation will be private.
