Romula Aganon Pulanco entered eternal rest on March 16, 2023 at Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair, NJ. Born to Catalina and Fausto Aganon on August 15, 1942, she grew up in Badoc, in the province of Ilocos Norte, in the Philippines. She started a family in Agoo, La Union, before moving to Belleville, NJ in 1975 and then settling in Bloomfield, NJ. During her time in the US, she took great pride in her career, working at Macy’s for over 17 years and earning the Outstanding Service Award.
Romula had a very gentle soul yet was the ultimate fighter. She had multiple battles with cancer starting in her early adulthood, but never once felt discouraged. Instead, she had always remained optimistic and found joy in the simpler things in life: watching television and spending time with her dogs, Whitey and Brandy. Once she retired, she would be found humming tunes throughout the house and dancing with Brandy in the living room.
She is survived by her loving husband, Abraham, of 55 years; son, Hector, and his wife, Marilu; and two grandchildren, Darryn and Elena.
As God concludes this chapter in her story, may she finally take the rest she truly deserves. She will be missed dearly, but we encourage you to celebrate her life by remembering her examples of serenity and perseverance. Let her memory guide us through the tough times and help us find joy in the blessings we receive every day.
