Rose Murphy

Rose Murphy, Union, NJ passed away on January 21, 2022. Born in Newark, NJ on November 29, 1918, she was 103. Rose was the daughter of Felice Romano (originally Bari, Italy) and Maria (Consuelo) Romano (originally Sorrento, Italy) who settled in Newark, NJ; the sister to Mary Cordasco (Newark), Connie Rose (Irvington), Josephine Stack (Roselle Park), Helen Accuosti (Bloomfield), Stella Colonello (Flemington), Nicholas (Maplewood), and Carlo (Newark); the wife of Richard F. Murphy (U.S. Marines; Newark Police Department; Newark); and the loving mother to Patricia Schwoebel (Union), all of whom have predeceased her. She was also the loving mother to Richard F. Murphy (Randolph) and was the matriarch to her grandchildren and to her great grandchildren. Rose worked in an administrative capacity for Bell Telephone, Newark but her specialty was hosting pasta and meatball dinners on Sunday afternoons for her children and their families. Those were special times and those memories will endure. She was Roman Catholic and enjoyed giving charitable gifts to those doing missionary work. A visitation is planned for 5:00 to 7:30 PM on Tuesday, January 25th followed by a prayer service led by her nephew, Fr. Frank Rose at Union Funeral Home - Lytwyn & Grillo, 1600 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union; 908-964-4222.
