Ruben Ortiz-Rodriguez, 82 of Apopka, Florida, formerly of Newark, entered into eternal rest on August 2, 2020 in Florida. Born in Coamo, Puerto Rico on August 30, 1937, he lived in Newark most of his life. He joined the US Army in Puerto Rico in 1956 and served honorably for 2 years. He was proud to be a US Veteran and serve the country he loved. He was last employed as a dispatcher at Newark Airport before he retired. He is the beloved husband of Aida (nee: Reyes-Lopez), loving father of Ruben Ortiz - Reyes (Gladys), Roberto Ortiz (Fabiola), Iris Ortiz (Ernesto Perez), Marilyn Ortiz (Angel Collazo) & Betzaida Ortiz (Samuel Nieves), dear brother of Margarita Ortiz & Jose Ortiz & the proud and loving grandfather of 13 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6th from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield, NJ. ( Please remember to wear face coverings and practice proper social distancing at the Funeral Home) Burial will take place on Friday at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
