Santos Garcia

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Santos Garcia. Santos passed on March 21, 2023 at the age of 79.

Santos was born on April 23, 1943 in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Santos spent his childhood and adolescence in Puerto Rico until he came to New York City at the young age of 18.

Upon arrival he worked numerous jobs before taking the opportunity of a lifetime with the infamous Museum of Modern Art as a painter. At the museum he went on to have a successful career as a painter for almost 40 years. He was highly respected by his colleagues and peers.

Santos’s biggest accomplishment was his love for his family. He was a loving and adoring husband to his wife Maria for 44 years. They created a beautiful life together and formed a family starting with the birth of their first son Anthony (deceased) followed by the birth of their second son Nicholas. Together they created everlasting memories that were often filled with laughter and love. Santos was always there to support his family in the good times and the bad with his unconditional love and support.

Santos had the opportunity to experience the love of a grandfather when his triplet granddaughters were born. Alessandra, Ana Sofia, and Ariana came to know him as the “silly grandpa”. He always made them laugh and would have make-shift band sessions with them.

Santos is survived by his wife Maria, son Nicholas, daughter in law Zuheidi, granddaughters Alessandra, Ana Sofia, Ariana, sisters Luz Garcia, Cecilia Garcia, Margarita Garcia, Rogelia Garcia, and his brother Edelmiro Garcia.

Santos will be deeply missed but remembered for all the joy he brought to those in his life.

Visitation will be held at the Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 44 Bay Avenue, Bloomfield, N.J. on Monday March 27th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 p.m. (Additional parking is available on Broughton Avenue). Cremation will be private.
