He went on to carve out his niche as an Integration Specialist. This career provided Skip many fascinating assignments such as re-wiring in the Pentagon after "9/11," and in the studios of the Oprah Winfrey show and MTV. He also hung his hat at NBC Universal as part of the Engineering Team. There Skip worked on the sets of the Jimmy Fallon and Meredith Viera shows. While with A/C Video, and thru Burst Communications, he continued to work in varied locations including the Texas Rangers Stadium in Arlington, Texas.Skip's family and countless friends will always remember him as "one of a kind." He marched to his own beat, not allowing anyone or anything to deter him from his passions: Moto-X , Roller Coasters, dancing with friends at Aldo and The Loop, early morning meals at the Tic Toc Diner, late night dashes to White Castle, and just sitting at home enjoying milk and chocolate cookies with bacon on the side. Skip lived life to the fullest! He was known throughout the community for his acts of kindness and the love of family and friends. He was always first with a comforting word. He took the time to be kind to you even when no one else did. Skip had an infectious laugh, larger than life, and his energy brightened up every room he entered with joy. His life was a gift to us all. Skip leaves behind to cherish his memory, two sisters: Dee Darkes (Leroy) of Garner, North Carolina, and Crystal Hughes of Cherry Hill, New Jersey; one niece, Lauren Carlton; one god-brother, Martin Bullock; and a host of loving relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers donations in Skip's memory will be accepted at the funeral home.
