Sofia Kitwis

Sofia Kitwis passed in her sleep last Wednesday, April 22 just days after she celebrated her 96th birthday. She was recovering from COVID-19 and was showing signs that she had a good chance of beating the virus. Sofia was a strong woman who survived the onslaught of World War II being taken from her home in Poland and forced to live in servitude in Germany, to escaping and finding her husband, Victor Kolpakov and moving to America. After Victors death at the young age of 53 years, she grew her young children and years later she married Nicholai Kitwis until his death in 2008. Sofia leaves behind her 4 children: Father Vladimir Kolpakov, Antoinette DeLuca-husband Richard, Anna Fernandez-husband Jose and Helen Del Rio-husband Herman, and her 5 grandchildren: Joey Fernandez-wife Kristen, Stephanie Barbara-husband Matthew, Americo De Luca, Victor and Christina Del Rio, and 3 great grandchildren: Liliana, Vincent and Matthew Barbara.
