Stanley J. Kopacz passed away peacefully on April 13, 2016. Born in Bayonne, NJ, to the late Thomas and Anna (Urban) Kopacz, he was the fifth of six children. Mr. Kopacz graduated from Bayonne High School, served in the Army during World War II, and very proudly earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from St. Peter's College in Jersey City under the G.I. Bill. His strong work ethic was established at an early age as he travelled from Bayonne to Journal Square in Jersey City each day after school with his brother, Adam, to sell newspapers. As a young man, one of his first jobs was Messenger for Weinreich Brothers Jewelers in New York City travelling the area by bus, subway, and bicycle. Later, he fulfilled his desire to find employment in New Jersey and was able to utilize his clerical skills with various employers including: The Jersey Central Railroad, Standard Oil and General Motors. Before his retirement in the 1980's, Mr. Kopacz held an Executive Secretary position with Sea-Land Services in Port Newark & Edison, NJ. He and his wife, Rose, lived in Monroe Township for many years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kopacz was predeceased by his sister, Victoria Kopacz, and brothers, Joseph, Charles and Adam. He is survived by his wife, Rose (Cepiel) Kopacz, his sister, Helen Goc, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Viewing will be on Saturday, April 16th, from 4pm-6pm at Union Funeral Home, 1600 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 18th, at 10am in St. Stanislaus Church, 146 Irvine Turner Boulevard, Newark, NJ 07103, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
