Suzette Leon, age 80, of Maplewood, New Jersey passed away peacefully at Saint-Barnabas Hospital on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
Born in Cap-Haitien, Haiti on July 14, 1942, she was the daughter of the Late Louis Leon & Eunide Joseph Leon. She was an elementary school teacher and a tailer for most of her life in Haiti. She was also a merchant in Cap-Haitian, Haiti which helped pay for all of her children's education. In 2017 Suzette moved to the United States. She enjoyed cooking and helping around the house with her daughter Ephemie. She became sick in 2020 but that didn't stop her from helping around the house. She was married to the love of her life, the Late Jean-Baptiste Alpha Laguerre and have 5 beautiful children Lorise Laguerre, Rose-Lourdes Laguerre, Fleming Laguerre, Ephemie Laguerre, and Willing Mary Laguerre.
Suzette loved nothing more than being surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored. Suzette loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a devoted Christian. She loved to sing & loves to laugh! Suzette, as she was known to those close to her, was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend of many; she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her
Survivors include her brothers and sisters Denise, Michée, Moise, Ruth, Auzé, Ange Michelle, Samuel, Amos and Clarel Leon. And her loving daughters, Lorise Laguerre, Rose -Lourdes Laguerre her husband Radny Nelson, Ephemie Laguerre and her Husband Jean-Rony Monestime Andre, And her Sons Fleming Laguerre and his wife Herline Laneau. And Willing Mary Laguerre. Her cherished grandchildren Jeanie Laure Orelus and her husband Jameson Vincent, Flavens Alpha Laguerre, Jeanet Louis Orelus, Flavensky Alpha Laguerre, Anne Corine Laguerre, Sephora Ann Nelson, Fleming Adony Laguerre, Felisha Adora Laguerre as well as dozens of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her Husband Jean-Baptiste Alpha Laguerre and her brother and sisters, Arnelle, Denis, & Marie Michelle Leon.
Visitation on Friday, March 17, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral on Saturday, March 18th at 9:00 a.m. at Eglise Baptiste Haitienne, 105 Orange Ave., Irvington, NJ 07111
Burial to follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union.
