Theresa A Colasurdo

Theresa Ann Colasurdo (nee:Corio), 90 of Bloomfield, entered into eternal life on December 17, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.

Theresa was one of six Corio sisters born to John Corio and Rose Reciniello, who were both born in the town of San't Arsenio, in the province of Salerno, Italy.

She was a lifelong resident of Jersey City, NJ until she moved to Bloomfield, NJ at the age of 60.

She attended Holy Rosary grammar school and entered into the convent at the age of 14 as a novice with the Franciscan Sisters in Ringwood, NJ. She spent 10 years in the convent before she realized her true calling was to eventually have a family of her own. At the age of 25, she married Michael Colasurdo of Jersey City and had 6 children. They were married for 51 years.

She was a teacher most of her life, spending several years in the Carteret School system, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School in the Marion section and St. Ann's school on Tonnelle Ave, both in Jersey City.   She also worked at Casa Colombo for the Jersey City Urban Housing Development, helping Italian Immigrants navigate city aid services.

Her loving family remembers her most for being an incredibly loving stay home mom who did everything within her power to create a happy loving environment in our home. Her Christmas Eve neighborhood breakfasts are still spoken about today by all friends and family!

She is predeceased by her husband Michael D. Colasurdo, her daughter Theresa (teetee), and her daughter-in-law Maria. Beloved mother to son Michael and wife Ann Marie, son Carmine and wife Ana Elena, son Bernard. Daughter Bernadette and husband Anthony and daughter Rose. Loving Grandmother to Carmine, Giovanna, Theresa, Natalia, Marco and Gabriella.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, December 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 344 Sixth Street, Jersey City, NJ.  (No visitation at the funeral home Wednesday morning)

Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City, NJ
