Thomas M Javorsky, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, surrounded by loved ones at Overlook Hospital, Summit, N.J. Thomas was born December 20, 1922, in Summerhill Township, Pa., to Martin and Suzanna (Ziewic) Javorsky, and grew up in Lloydell, Pa. Thomas worked as a machinist for Otis Elevator in Bayonne, NJ prior to being enlisted in the Army in 1942. He served with distinction in Europe during WWII from 1942 through 1943, and was honorably discharged after being wounded in Italy during combat. He received several medals for his service, including the Purple Heart. Thomas met his wife Pauline in his hometown. They were married on June 30th in 1956 in Beaverdale, PA, and settled in Union, N.J., to raise a family. Thomas was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and grandfather. Thomas worked for over 30 years as a skilled machinist for General Cable Company (later Pirelli Cable) in Bayonne, NJ. He retired when he was 65. Thomas was an accomplished builder and woodworker and liked to work in his basement workshop in his spare time. Thomas was also a devout Roman Catholic. Thomas was predeceased by his parents; his brother John and sister in-law Julia, his sister Agnes, his sister Anne and bother in-law Steven, his sister Catherine and brother in-law Paul, his sister Mary and brother in-law Andrew, and his sister Susan and brother in-law Stanley. Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Pauline Cecelia (Barbarich) Javorsky; devoted children, daughter Laura and husband Richard Manca, son Thomas, son David and wife Nancy, and son Gary; and his cherished grandchildren, Kaitlin Dalakian and husband Greg, Brian Manca and wife Yvonne, and Rachel Manca and fianc Jeremy. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, extended relatives and friends. Thomas was a pillar of strength, hope, and guidance for everyone who knew him, and he truly loved life. He will be missed by his entire family. Viewing will be Monday, April 9, 2018 5-8 PM at Union Funeral Home in Union, NJ. Mass will be held at 930am on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church in Maplewood, N.J., directly followed by full military honors and burial at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to St Jude Childrens Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
