Thomas O. Mcgovern

Mr. Thomas O. McGovern Sr. of Bloomfield passed away on July 7, 2013 in Glen Ridge NJ at the age of 83 after a long struggle. Visiting hours are from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm on Wednesday July 10 at Levandoski Funeral Home 44 Bay Ave. Bloomfield NJ. The funeral will begin at 9am at the funeral home on Thursday morning. His funeral mass will be in St. Valentine Church at 10am. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Thomas is survived by his loving wife Joan V. McGovern, his loving children Caroline J. Johnson (Peter), Thomas O. McGovern Jr, and Paul C. McGovern (Janet). Cherished grandfather of Victoria, Vanessa, Abigail, Connor and Sean. Brother of Timothy J. McGovern and the late Jack E. McGovern, James R. McGovern and Jean Zemzicki. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Valentine Church 125 No. Spring St. Bloomfield NJ 07003 would be appreciated. He was born in Orange NJ, lived in Newark and Bloomfield for the past 53 years. Thomas was an Army Veteran serving during peace time in the late 1940's. He later served his country in the Army Ready Reserve and Army Reserve until the late 1950's. He was a proud graduate of St. Benedict's Preparatory School in Newark (1947). He graduated from Seton Hall (1956) and Steven's Institute of Technology in Hoboken with a Masters Degree in Chemistry. He worked for Sandoz in East Hanover as a Patent Agent for over 30 years.
