Vito Antonio Chimienti, 93, of Union, peacefully entered Our Lord’s home on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Chatham Hills Subacute Care Center in Chatham, NJ. Vito Antonio’s very dedicated hospice nurse held his hand as he took his last breath.
Vito Antonio (AKA Tony) was born in Sannicandro di Bari, Italy, to Francesco and Carmela Chimienti. After emigrating from Italy, he lived in New Jersey. He was employed as a forklift operator at 7up Bottling Co, then merged with Canada Dry until he retired in 1995. He was actively involved in raising his two children and three granddaughters in Union. He spent the last 65 years of his life as a resident of Union.
Vito Antonio was faithful member of St. Michael’s Church in Union, where he attended Mass daily. He demonstrated sincere devotion to Mary, the Mother of God, Saint Anthony, and Jesus Christ at a young age due to his strong loyalty to his hometown in Italy. He taught his family the importance of religion by praying before each meal. Vito Antonio’s presence had a tremendous impact on the lives of his family, relatives, and numerous friends. Although his demise has left a void in our hearts, we can always cherish his remarkable memories.
Vito Antonio celebrated life to the fullest by enjoying simple pleasures, socializing with family and friends, and dedicating time to his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He loved reading the Holy Bible, gardening, cooking homemade meals with his wife, playing card games, and participating in soccer. With a generous heart, he shared his homemade wine bottles with his family and friends.
Every person who had the privilege of spending time with Vito Antonio, was blessed with his peaceful thoughts, his words of wisdom, genuine happiness, and honesty. He proudly held many honorable titles, such as devoted husband, brother, brother - in - law, affectionate father, granddad, uncle, and cousin. He invested much of his precious time, patience, and energy as a caregiver to family members, especially to his daughter Carmella and her family. He provided them with unlimited support, security, and unconditional love.
Vito Antonio was predeceased by his beloved wife, Anna Chimienti, of 67 wonderful years, and his son, Frank Chimienti.
Vito Antonio is survived by his daughter, Carmella Bacino, and her husband, Maurizio Bacino of Union; his granddaughter, AnnMarie Bacino-Veman and her husband, Alexander Veman; his granddaughters, Christina Bacino and Laura Bacino.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 21, 2023, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at the Union Funeral Home, 1600 Stuyvesant Ave, Union, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael’s Church, Union, will be celebrated on Thursday, June 22, at 10:15 a.m. Cremation will be held privately.
