William "Benny" Bradley Jr., 83 of Maplewood, NJ peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday September 4, 2018 at 2:56 AM. He was born on May 6, 1935 in Elliott, South Carolina to the late Learlean Brookins and William Bradley Sr. William grew up in Elliott, South Carolina until the age of eight years old when he relocated to New York City with his mother. William received his education in New York City. After living in New York until 1992 William moved to Maplewood, NJ where he has lived for 26 years. He was employed at General Motors Tarrytown, NY plant for 33 years before retiring in 1992. William was happily married to his loving and devoted wife, Mattie Bradley for 59 wonderful years. To this union they raised three sons, Alden Bradley, Ronald Bradley and Robert Toney. William accepted the Lord as his personal savior at an early age and was an active, devoted member at Bethel AME Church in Harlem, New York for over 60 years. He was a dutiful servant and loved member at Bethel. William served in many capacities such as being a Steward and working on the finance and kitchen committees just to name a few. William was a devoted son, husband, father, father in law, grandfather, uncle, cousin, family member and friend to many. He cherished and enjoyed time spent with his family, church family and friends. William enjoyed attending church and serving at Bethel AME, cooking out in the backyard, gardening, sitting on the patio with his wife during the warm months, watching sports with his sons and fixing things around the house that he found to be in disrepair. He could often be found in the garage working on something that needed repair. William went from labor to reward on Tuesday September 4, 2018. Precious memories remain with those who loved him dearly: his wife, Mattie Bradley, his wonderful children, Alden Bradley (Angela), Ronald Bradley, Robert Toney; grandchildren Carolyn Toney, Brian Bradley, William Bradley, Brianna Bradley, Julia Bradley and Jordan Bradley and a host of other family members and friends.
