Yvonne Doreen Hope (nee Talbot) was one of nine children born to James Josephus Talbot and Claudis Matilda Moore on November 8, 1928 in Georgetown, Guyana. Yvonne attended Freeburg Government School in Georgetown, and worked for many years at the Bookers Manufacturing Company. In 1968, Yvonne migrated to the US and on September 4, 1972 married the late Neville Hope. She was the proud mother of one child, Wendy Martindale, and a granmother to Terell and Trevor. Yvonne was a kind, compassionate and generous person, who was fiercely loyal to those she loved. She had a great sense of style. She loved music, especially the Calypos of Guyana and the Caribbean. She loved to dance and "back in the day" was quite the party animal. Yvonne was a great cook and in her family circle was thought to make the best "Guyana black cake". In her retiring years, she enjoyed doing word puzzles and spending time with her grandsons. Yvonne departed this earthly life on Sunday, Oct 21, 2012 at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark. She is lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter, Wendy, grandsons, Terell Jewsbury and Trevor Martindale, her sister, Joan Moore, her niece Jean Massiah, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws, and friends.
